After doing battle with a muse-killing cold virus for much of February I finally got back in the writing saddle and finished the first draft of “Road to the Colony”. I looked at my previous Writing Update post and realized I changed the format from what I had planned. There are now three novelettes, instead of two. You might be surprised at who the third story is about, if you’ve read “Must Love Sandwiches”. I’ll probably add in some small truffle (flash) sized stories, but I haven’t written those yet. For now, the three novelettes are done and awaiting revisions and editing. Plus I get to develop some new recipes, which is always fun.

Writing that third novelette wasn’t easy, though. I had a terrible time focusing on it since the girls in the basement (aka muses) decided they wanted to brainstorm blog posts instead. I managed to get the novelette written by relegating the proposed blog posts to To-Do lists and sticky notes. So stay tuned for a new blog series and maybe even the resuscitation of a neglected blog very soon. Oh, and I almost forgot, I have another project in the outlining stage. I’m really excited about this one. If you have a sharp eye you might have caught what it is in my post about the sticky note organizer. I’m really hoping I don’t have so many plans and projects right now that I end up spinning in circles and not getting any of them done!

How about you? What are you working on right now?

  1. Wow! Glad you are feeling better. Once your head cleared, it sure seems like the ideas started flowing again. Very exciting.

I am working on releasing the second editions of my first two novels. They will have a reader’s guide with new covers, book club discussion questions, and bonus material. After that copy is completed (this week), I will get back to writing the third Bibliophiles book. I also had an idea over the weekend for a short story anthology that I am interested in pursuing. Guess this almost-spring is a fruitful time for the muses. 🙂

    1. Ooh, you have much more exciting news than I do! Good luck with all of your projects. Even though it is raining and gray today I think my muses are enjoying the warmer weather too. 🙂

  2. So glad you are feeling better and productive. Sounds like you are making great progress. Stay tuned for my update on the writer’s conference last week.

  3. You go, girl 😉
Sounds like you’re back on track, glad to hear it!

I am currently working on squeezing in more writing time for starters. Will be focusing on blog posts I can schedule ahead of time, and I have an e-book project in mind. Not creative writing just yet, but equally important to me.

    1. I’m working on blog posts right now, but not getting any farther than saving titles as drafts – to be filled in later! I’ve also been trying to train myself to write whenever I have the time, not just when I have a big block of time. A very useful skill when life hands you a million tasks. 🙂
